Gandhi : Relevant Ever and After
Having common sense, compassion, truthfulness, and righteousness alike values imbedded by himself in his life, he stands above all. Living life with such ideals is a legacy that's what Albert Einstein had said about him " generations to come will scarce believe that such a one as this ever in flesh and blood walked upon this earth. "
Praising someone can only have two valid reasons, as I think, first is a compulsion and second is passion and respect. Youths with violent and revolutionary thoughts will end up blaming Gandhi for many things which we see today. He has been opposed during his lifetime and now his ideas are challenging the materialistic humans. I adore Gandhi due to my compassion towards him which didn't come easily. The questions that used to annoy me were ranging from, Gandhi's calling off the non-cooperation to the 55 crores to Pakistan. But when I decided to confront his ideas, which are available to us in various forms, my myths shattered. If Gandhi can move a 21st-century young mind then obviously he was someone extraordinary.
Gandhi was not a Mahatma, since his childhood. He evolved with time learning and exploring. His truthfulness with himself was rare. People, nowadays, look outside for their every act; they compare, seek validation, condemn others. Gandhi used to introspect himself, his very thoughts and actions. For every change, he made himself its subject. He said, " Be the change that you wish to see in the world". The moral values that he taught the world through his life were not so easy to uphold. He had to choose between his life and his values. His compassion for the downtrodden made him a mass leader. He talked about sanitation, honesty, duties, and such fundamental issues which people neglected. He wore simplicity in such a way that people feel attached to him. Remember how beautifully he bound the whole nation with a pinch of common salt, that was his thought. The Directive Principles of state policy of the Indian constitution is though highly loaded with moral values but the vision that shaped them is timeless.
Pages will run out in writing on Gandhi. He didn't say or wrote what he thought was right instead he lived that exemplary life. At present when the world is facing a scarcity of cooperation, compassion, honesty that 152-year-old Mohan becomes relevant with his ideals and values.
